Hey Everyone!

I'm a 3rd Year student at UC Berkeley double majoring in Rhetorical Theory and Contemporary English Literature. I'm also an officer of the Hmong Student Association @ Berkeley. We're currently hosting a 2 Day 1 Night event for high school students called the Pursuit of Higher Education. This is our 2nd year doing this event, and our goal is to promote higher education in the Hmong community. Specifically we want to send the message to Hmong students that it's ok to go far away for college.

We will be hosting various amounts of workshops, college tour, and a tour of the bay area. Also students can have a in depth look on what it will be like to be a college student! We will be providing food, housing, and transportation for students from Marysville, Sacramento, and Stockton. This is a free event and great resource for students who have never though about college, or who want to see colleges out side of their home towns. This event is only for highs school students grades 9 - 12.

If you're interested please go to our website and download an application. www.hsab.berkeley.edu

And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Cheesy

Our club has fundraised most of the funds through various activities such as food sales, car washes, etc. We do receive some funding from the school, but that money can only be allocated to supplies such as paper, staplers, tape, etc. Also we have lots of donations from various organizations and stores in Berkeley. Cheesy This even is 75% funded through our own fundraisers and donations, and 25% from the school.

What information are you looking for about admissions? If you applied to Berkeley and you're wondering if you were accepted or not then we will not have that information.

But we will be hosting various admissions workshops such as how to apply, what high school classes you should take, how to write your personal statement essays.

That's quite impressive, considering how difficult fund raising can be.
