Film Synopsis

Hunted Like Animals is an eye-opening documentary about an ongoing, but unknown, genocide — against the Hmong people in the jungles of Laos. Coerced into joining the CIA’s anti-communist efforts during the Viet Nam war, this ethnic minority became a Secret Army. When the U.S. pulled out of Southeast Asia in 1975 and the Lao kingdom was overthrown by the communists, the Hmong became targets of retaliation and persecution. Hundreds of thousands fled the country; others ran to remote mountainous regions of Laos. Over thirty years and two generations later, the Hmong in hiding are still mercilessly hunted, attacked, raped, tortured and killed by the military. Since 2004, the crackdown has intensified and those who can escape seek refuge in Thailand. The traumatized refugees have not been promised protection or help. Instead, they are threatened with deportation back to Laos, the very place from which they barely escaped. In this documentary, the refugees speak for the estimated 20,000 voiceless people still trapped in the jungle, surrounded by Lao and Vietnamese soldiers — and hunted like animals.

you know what? we need a REAL leader... it seems like vang pao aint doing anything about it.... us hmongs shouldnt run anymore. if we want peace, we should FIGHT for it. lets build up an army of hmongs and show em what were made of! at least that way, we would die fighting, not running.

i agree, but at the same time, who will support us? the US won't do anything since it is not their country and they do not want another vietnam war. The only thing the we as Hmong Americans can do is voice our opinion to people who are not willing to listen. If we rebel, we will get wiped out. If we do nothing, some may live in a terrible condition; but they will be able to carry on the future for the Hmong people in Thailand/Laos. It is sad that most of the world does not know the Hmong struggles, some are starting to be aware of it; but yet not enough. I'm sure only 1 out of 100,000 of Americans know what a Hmong person is.

I have such bad grammer skills that if i were to write that whole paragraph, it would probably take forever to just write that much. I am a good bullshit writer though Grin... i'm not a good factual writer. Tongue

Found it at the link... http://www.rebeccasommer.org/documentaries/Hmong/synopsis/index.html

We are a powerful group of people, but they do not recognize our strengths. The human race tends to see weaknesses rather than strengths.

With the Hmong people coming to power in the near future? I don't see it coming any sooner due to the fact that the current leaders seem to show some greed within their organizations. Of course some of the Hmong people have donated thousands of dollars to try to inform the world on what is going on; but yet there hasn't been any change from then to now still.
